Community Involvement - Our Favorite Part!

At FI, we really enjoy any opportunity we can to be a part of our growing community, and in turn give people the chance to understand the process behind the scrap business. Where exactly are we in the recycling process? How do our machines work? For people who have ever had questions like these, or are even just interested in knowing the various businesses around the area, we feel privileged to give them the chance to see what we do. In order to do this, we participate in an event called Be a Tourist in Your Own Town!

Another one of our favorite events to be involved in is Scrapfest! We are a key sponsor. Twelve artist teams from around the Mid-Michigan region gather at our plant. They get an hour to collect up to 500 pounds of scrap, of which they take to their respective studios, and have a week to create their own unique sculptures to be entered in the Scrapfest contest. The first place winner receives $1,000!
